Re: What Mudflaps Should I Buy

Please don't put "butt-flaps" on such a nice truck

I read about some clear "plastic" (supposed to be dang near invisible, when installed) that you put on the front end instead of a "bra" & they put it on headlights to keep them from cracking if a rock hits em

So I dun see why it wouldn't work for your application

Also my dads 98 GMC has some clear plastic stuff on it, for the "anti rock chip" protection

Re: What Mudflaps Should I Buy

If any at all, I would look for the plastic black thin flat ones that are minimal impact to the looks. These can be installed with only the amount that you want to expose and the rest trimmed away to clean up the looks. It does not take much to protect those fenders.

I would go for small black car ones, they will protect somewhat and are not that noticable. It depends on how much protection you want. I hear ya on the roads, Alberta's no better.

Re: What Mudflaps Should I Buy

Mudflaps aren't the nicest addition in the world, but plain black ones on a black truck will be hidden pretty well. I run mudflaps on everything, as they look a lot better than sandblasted fenders.....

I've been lookin for a set of these. I cant believe you cant find them anymore.

The guy at JC Whitneys told me there was some kind of copyright suit going on over the logo.

What would be more correct on on a early seventys truck?

Eeeeew, that`s a tough one. But,I hear ya.How about the stainless ones and get them powdercoated gloss black? They`d kinda disappear.I guess you don`t want to use that clear stick-on stuff.Another thought would be rock-guard below the body line.It wouldn`t show too bad down there.

I had a 70 Charger ( Panther Pink of course ) I redid and used to put mud flaps on with big paper clips.. I hope I'm calling them what they are. They come in all different sizes and would hold my flaps between here and Red Deer or anywhere else for that matter.

I had that painted on the tailgate of my 74 Dodge truck in 1976.. Its a great logo and yea, I wonder why it dissappeared and a copyright suit would do that just like it did to CCR and that is why they never did reunion tours like all the other 70's bands.

Ha! I was going to click a digi-shot of my "big wonderfuls" but I saw your post before I got to the bottom. And I'm about 650 or so miles east of there.
My truck is originally from Wyoming. So far I've left the mud flaps on there (13 years and counting). They are attached to my bumper and the bumper is scheduled to go this spring. I'll have to figure out a way to attach them underneath like yours. They sure do protect my boat from rocks I kick up.

Uh, My C10 has mudflaps. Most people don't notice them, or they're polite enough to keep their mouths shut. I have a bud who hates them and razzs me every time we go somewhere about them. Well his name is Mike so I call em Mike Flaps!

That is a nice looking truck, you could lower it, with less ground clearance less crap can fly up on the body, then you wouldn't need the mud flaps as bad.

Hey Mrein, here's a pic of the bracket. They were on there when I got this truck in '79, and the Big Wonderfuls went on in '87. SD flaps always have Mt. Rushmore--just too damm classy.LOL If you put in a pic of yours, maybe Blue85 will be convinced to redneck er up a little!

Dang "K" are you tryin to say that Blue85 won't like our ideas? Man I thot these was the best available!! Shortbeds can be ranch trucks too!!

Blue85- sorry bout the hijack, just havin some redneck fun. Never imagined there is another one out there with the farm truck look that might could use some info on redneck mounting. I'm sure I could find ya a pair too! They are still bein made. Hey how bout them chrome nekkid ladies?? Oh lord I'm sorry bout that there!

Good luck on your search.

Seriously, out here with a lot of gravel roads, and chip sealing paved roads, the mudflaps main purpose isn't really even to protect your truck, they are an effort to reduce the chance of damage to other motorists vehicles.

I am running something close to those mudflaps on my 72 Cheyenne. Put them on quick after the stone chips on the back started showing up. I live on a chip and tar road, so those small rock like to get picked up by the tires.

70gmcjimmy - thanks for the bracket picture. I had something like that in mind the moment I saw your big wonderfuls under there.

The boss took the kid and the digital camera to her parent's for the week (spring break). I'll see if I can find a the video camera which will take stills. We'll get Blue85 in a set of big wonderfuls yet.

Yes they do protect other motorists but they also keep my bass boat looking purty for when I park it in front of my double wide.

I do hope you ain't making fun of my nekkid lady stickers in my back window.
