yes a 700 r will live. again, depends on what you are doing. I have one in my big block truck . make sure you get trans from 1987 up as the imput shaft is stronger and bigger. Get a vette or similar servo for the band. kevlar clutches, manual valve bodies are available if you need one. TCI and other companies make loose converters that lock up and also stand alone electrics for lockup. I have a 2400 converter,superservo and the good clutches. smoke the hides as far as you want. If I were drag racing I'd go with a 400 or 350 turbo but for the street and a truck that basically wont see slicks, the 700 is cool.
