Did the factory use door latch catch shims?

Does anyone know if the factory(specifcally Freemont) use shims behind the door latch catch? My truck is in very original condition and they do not look new. I will try to get pics up soon. Thanks, Chuck

My 72 has factory shims behind both door latch catches.

Re: Did the factory use door latch catch shims?

Your timing is excellent. I just reinstalled the latches in my Fremont built truck last night. I ended up with two shims at the bottom and four at the top on both sides. I originally thought that I would need to make the shim count the same top and bottom, but I only had twelve shims and the latches needed 4 on top, so I went 4 and 2. Good luck.
