Re: Is is really THAT cool?
I've seen some of the nicer promo trucks of our era go for $50-$100. That one almost looks like it's been painted. Original ones look much nicer.

Re: Is is really THAT cool?
I agree with Tom, it looks odd, or maybe it was just a bad factory paint job.

Re: Is is really THAT cool?
That is actually a prime example of the highly sought after dealer promos. They are sold regularly to collectors for $300+ and have had that value for many years.I haven`t bought one in over 10 years. There is a book,"Auto Quote" that lists values of all dealer promos. The trucks are rare due to them having better play value to children in the past and the fact that they are "just trucks".A promo of a muscle car or finer auto was likely displayed or stored as a collectible from the start. Here we are 30 years later, the real trucks are very collectible, and the guys that love these trucks are unaware of the true value of these collectibles. This is what makes a collectible valueable.Being taken for granted for many years, then few survive. We go out and buy mass-produced Chinese NASCAR cars or $125.00 Franklin Mint "collectibles" and think they are an investment. When,in reality, none will be played with,we know to keep them mint and with the box(now),and they`ll all be around 30 years from now, except for victoms of house fires, natural disasters, and domestic disputes.
I have a dozen or so of these and I value them way above anything else in my collection. They were "give aways"at the dealers, only.

Re: Is is really THAT cool?
They are very hard to find in mint condition, much less with the original boxes.
My holy grail is a 1967 Camaro pace car promo - these can sell for as much as $600+ in mint shape... hence the reason I don't have one yet |

Re: Is is really THAT cool?
Why was this moved????It`s not posted as an e-bay find. It`s a discussion on a thing of interest to 67/72 truck fans. Now no one will see it.This thread was not a sale-oriented post refering people to buy. I vote move it back. It`s good general discussion fodder.

Re: Is is really THAT cool?
In "Everywhere Else But Here Finds" I saw it said this was moved. But,I didn`t see it anywhere.I even decided to start a "promo" thread in the 67-72 trucks board. What do you know? Here it is!!Did they make Suburban promos?
