What is the amp rating on a '69?

What is the amp rating for the stock '69 alternator? I am looking at changing over to a '76 set-up and would like to know what the difference is. I looked up the different models on the autozone and checkers website to see if there is a difference and they say that the ratings are roughly 60-63 apm each. Doesn't sound right to me?????
I would think that the older one would be less. Now correct me if I'm wrong but, the '76 should be an internal reg right???

I believe that 37 amps was standard with the AC rated higher. In 1972, the standard altenator was 42 amps with the AC rated at 61 amps.

The 76 is an internal regulated altenator.

So I'm guessing that other than the internal reg upgrade, it will be to my advantage to upgrade to this alternator?

I know some newer than 72 GM stuff had optional bigger alternators[maybe look in the book at caddys] so you should be able to get one from a parts house. You can get some really bigger ones aftermarket. Might be worthwhile to get one if you plan to add eletrical stuff later. I ran into this problem when I added aftermarket air to mine. The truck could sit for weeks and the battery would be fine but if I drove it alot the battery would go dead. I had a stock 62 amp that worked fine even had it tested. It turned out that all my accessories drew more amps than the alternator put out, installed a 75 amp, no more problems
