front end geometry

hey guys, just a geometry question... i have no idea when it comes to stuff like this. does the geometry of my front end look good enough to not worry about? or shoud i do something different to get the same stance it has? so far its all factory with shorter coils... im not to worried about changing anything at this point caus i need to get balljoints and wheel alignment anyway. any input would be appreciated!!!! kyle

Although I haven't done any lowering jobs, I can help on some basics of steering geometry.

- The tie rod assembies need to be in a level plane, yours are running uphill at the wheel end. This alone will make a good alignment impossible, & most shops will refuse to align it this way. Toe- in will change drastically with suspension travel, making it drive bad & wear the tires fast.

- Camber will also be hard to set (if not impossible to achive specs) & will also change alot with suspension travel.

- I also suspect that when the truck is fully assembled, the suspension will be fully bottomed out on the snubbers. Ouch.


Although I'm sure there have been plenty of lowering jobs done this way, it just isn't a good way to do it. The proper springs/ drop spindles and such is what you really need to do it right.

thanx for the info jeffspower!! where do you think i can get some dropped spindles and coils for a decent price that would lower the front 5" from stock or more?

There's a lot of people on here to help you with the parts you need. I'd consider a new post "where to buy reasonably priced parts for a 5" suspension drop" in the suspension section.

Mopac in Edmonton or calgary has dropped Beltech spindles for that truck for $220 cdn

I can get you their number if needed and they will ship greyhound.
