5-lug conversion

Hopefully I'll be tearing into my suspension very soon. I'm wanting to put disc brakes up front with a kit from either cpp or ece. I think I've decided to go 5-lug. What do I have to do on the rear to convert to 5 lug? I'm just planning on keep the drums back there. Also, with those kits work with both manual and power brakes? Thanks.

Rear conversion: You will need to either find a 5 lug donor and use the rear axles off of it or I believe some machine shops can convert your 6 lug to a 5. I'm not 100% on that, somebody else might be albe to confirm that this is true.

Power vs. Manual: The brakes should work the same for either. My question is why would you stick with manual? If you're already doing the work, spend a couple extra $$ and upgrade to power.

Oh, I'm definitely upgrading to power. I was just wondering if I needed to look for anything different since I will be going power. (Did that make sense?)

Got it. Well the kits should work for either power or manual. You'll just need to pick up a booster combo to convert over to power.

bw4sale may have other reasons but the two I hear most are 1) more wheel choices and 2) cheaper parts (i.e. 5 lug rotor vs 6 lug rotor)

Oh, and for the same reasons, people looking to buy these trucks will probably choose a 5 lug over a 6.

I used a 12 bolt rear end (5 lug) out of an 85 Chevy truck. It bolts right up, just had to re-locate the shock mounts.
