rough country 4"

this is my last lift question i hope...i am buying the rough country 4" front leaf rear block lift with shocks

has anyone done this lift on there truck
was anything else needed??

p.s.-i also added the steering arm and dual stabilizer

this wont be my first lift but first one to a 72 chevy truck so its a new experience

and should i upgrade shocks?

I have a 4" rough country lift on the 71 shortbed.It is actually closer to a 6" rear lift and 4" front lift.I bought the rear spring lift though.It was $600 for 4 springs and shocks and u bolts and all.

what did you think of the install was it simple? or they laided everything out nice and did you upgrade shocks? and what size tires and what kind of ground clearance

Solid axle trucks are pretty straight forward when it comes to installing a lift. There are several things that make it more difficult sometimes like crusty Ubolts, shock mounts, brake lines, steering arm nuts and the front spring mount bolts. Ground clearance does not come from the lift kit alone, you have to add bigger tires to increase ground clearance.

The tires are 35" Pro Comp Mt's.They are on 16x10 polished Eagle Alloy rims.I dont know the ground clearence right off hand.I can tell you the 35s are close to rubbing and will most likely off roading.I havent put the shocks on yet.With the 6" rear lift the supplied shocks arent fitting.I am waiting for the springs to settle a little more and if they dont then some different shocks will go on.The lift was pretty easy,the u bolts weren't stubborn but the bolts holding the rear springs on had to be torched off.I spent a few hours spread over a few days installing it.I changed all the bushings too,not just the ones for the spring eyes that come with the kit.

Front brake lines at partsamerica/napa 88 c20. Napaonline will give you the length of the brake lines in their description. As for the rear, my rear didn't have hard lines, so I extended the mount for the rear hose and bent my lines to meet up with it at a higher location.

Look around on the napa site, nearly all the brake hose have lengths posted. For my extension I used a piece of flat stock, two holes and wahlah! Of course I made new hard line with them going higher off of the axle. Here is a part number I found on napa.

***I have found two rear hoses to be metric, so just use some G2 when looking for one on later trucks***

IMO, getting an all spring lift is the way to go. (unless cost is the main concern)

What you'll have are two differing spring rates front & rear.
Never mind, one old set and one new set of springs.

69K10step, with a 4" lift and 35's, there's no doubt you'll be rubbin' off road.
Mild wheeling, okay but anything more and you'll start messing up fenders.

Thats why after body work & paint it isnt going offroad
Whether I wheel it or not a different lift will most likely go on.I have a extra set of front 6" lift springs and since the back is already about 6 I think the 6" front springs might be going on in place of the 4 inch front springs.Dont know yet what I will do.....

Oh and another thing.With rear blocks you will experience axle wrap that you dont get with rear springs.

I don't think anyone mentioned a raised steering arm???
And w/ a 4'' lift, 35's will rub the front of the front fenders. I had 35's w/ 4'' on my 69 and I had to trim the fenders. Original brake lines were long enough.
I have since added a 3'' body lift and 17/40 Ground Hawgs.

i ordered my lift sat. with front leafs rear blocks and steering stabilizers and shocks and a steering arm i called today(tuesday) and they told me the leafs were on backorder and would be here sometime towards end of the week its a bummer i figured i'd be wheeling on sunday but i'll live

just figured if anyone cared about my trucks progress
well anyways i sanded the frame and painted it and fixed my front brakes and got calipers and hopefully hoses tommorow i'll post some recent pictures soon
