Duh - - I should maybe read the instructions. After I posted this last night, I remembered that there was a small paper that fell out when I remove the dist cap from the box. Instructions perhaps? Yup - and they say exactly what you just said.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking of doing - since 1 is a long wire and 8 is a short one.
