my buddy rudy always wanted to help my friend chad and when working in the garage, but he had no clue about anything automotive, and all tools were either a dealy-Whomper, or Thingamajig, so his official title became "Jack Monkey". he was restricted to pumping the jack or the engine hoist.

This thing came from the factory green with a 6 banger and 3 on the tree as well. It just takes time and some of that green. Lots of eyes here on the board to help in part locations and advise.

Right here is the place to ask questions when you get in a bind. Good luck and go for it. I wish my dad would have done something like that, but he had to feed eight kids, worked 7 days a week in the coal mines. Black lung did him in. RIP dad.

Hey Loose Screws,go take an auto body course at the community college. That'll show them when you can trade your paint and body skills for any other part of the work. Also, you will get to do that part of the work while they"put parts in zip-lock bags and label them."

Looks like a sweet beginning to a potentially beautiful finish

Re: How crazy is my hubby?
Well...he read your posts and guess what we've been doin'?
Bed is going in the dump. Hubby is at the junkyard right now getting a better lookin' cab, so our old one may be for sale if anyone is interested. We'll remove it next week and get the frame to the sand-blaster. His main decision now is leaving the original motor or dropping in a V8. Decisions, decisions!

Re: How crazy is my hubby?
A K30 SWB ? Sounds pretty rare to me. I'd probably get a better cab, and maybe do a 88-98 sportside bed if I couldn't find a nice 67-72 step or fleet bed. As long as the frame is good or could at least be worked over on a chassis machine, I would go ahead with the project.

Re: How crazy is my hubby?
He doesn't need a therapist. He needs a LMC catalog and a increase in the credit card limit. Get yourself a six pack, drink while you sit with your hubby and look at this thing. By the time you finish the six pack, you will be on board as well.
Good Luck!

Re: How crazy is my hubby?
Problem is I don't drink even though I prolly need to! And it looks like I'm on board. I've been in the shop with the two of them 'til 9:00 every night for the past week getting it down to where it is now. We'll be replacing all body panels with new as he won't hear of putting a newer model bed on it. Thanks guys (and gals)...I've been converted. (Tried to talk hubby into getting rid of the Harley emblems on the floor and replace with a big ol' BowTie! !!)

I did tell Stan (hubby) about it being one of 1229. He couldn't believe it. Stan was saying last night the truck prolly will never see a dirt road once it's done. Son piped in with, "What if I have a girlfriend who lives on a dirt road?". Hubby told him she'd better meet him at the end of the road. Or he can use the Wrangler.

Re: How crazy is my hubby?
You can take a 73-87 step bed and convert the wheel openings to the circular ones like it has now.Thats a good thing to do if you cant find an original step.Save the original as long as possible, you will need it if you do this. There was a thread on the convert,I will see if I can dig it up.You should be able to find the orignal color code pretty easy.Member MsGross has a 68 K10 with the same color, you might ask him,he might know the code of the paint.
