??? On 2wd leaf sping rear

Going off of the pic's in (Project Low Buck) by Rokcrln

The truck he is useing is a lwb going to swb 2wd with leaf spring rear as seen in pic's in thread. That frame has the curved rear frame rails like the coil spring truck arm rear set-ups. Not like the 4x4 frame rails. So it seems to me that a complete rear leaf spring set-up would bolt directly to the rear of a swb coil spring with the curved frame. Maybe a few holes and very minor fab work.

Question:Am I on the right track or not?

Front I seem to have figured out on what needs to be done with the help of many here. I have received alot of feed back on rear also just wondering about that thought. Thank You in advance RJ22

Re: ??? On 2wd leaf sping rear

Yes you are on the right track but why? If you have coil now why would you want to spend the time or money to go to leafs? I am only doing this one to show what can be done cheap and leaf trucks are cheaper than coil trucks (just most guys want the coils). All my other trucks and my blazer are all coil and are going to stay that way. Give us more info so we can try and help. Is this your truck or the Kid's?

Re: ??? On 2wd leaf sping rear

Rokcrln First things first this is on my truck. My nephew's truck will stay true to its roots for sure. The coil spring set-up is one of my favorite things about these trucks. I would never imagine doing this swap other than I am contemplating building a swb 4x4. Kinda combining the two trucks in my sig. Looking for the best route.

1.Cutting lwb 4x4frame down to swb as you are doing on "low buck" but, 4x4.
OR
2.If the leaf sping set-up off of the rear of the 4x4 bolts up I would go that route. Seems more straight forward. To build a swb 4x4.

As stated in the first post I'm pretty sure I have the info I need on the front but, opinions/comments on this area would also be helpful if you have done this kinda swap before or know any tips. Thanks RJ22

The leaf spring set up on his 2wd looks like the 4x4 rear frame from what I can see.

Re: ??? On 2wd leaf sping rear

I guess I didnt see that pic,now everything might work if the shock mounts and all were in the right place and the springs are the right length, width, ect.
If it is,than it would make it alot easier than shortening the longbed

Re: ??? On 2wd leaf sping rear

See,where the shocks mount on the frame,it curves out there. On the 4x4s,the frame dont curve so it looks like the shock position would be different.Thats not really a big deal though.I know the 2wds have shocks, but since I sold my 2wd,I forget where they mount on the rear with coils

Re: ??? On 2wd leaf sping rear

I am by no means the smartest guy on the block (specialy on the truck end of things) but, I do try to be observent. That one just caught my eye. Now I just can't imagine why they made the two styles frames when it seems that both set-ups would work on both style frames. Anyone else?

I will go try to get a pic of my 2wd right now. RJ22
Got it seems that from looking at it that the top mounts are defiatly different but on lowbuck they are the same as your 4x4 pic's mounts. Seems if there would be some fab here it would be minor compared to shotening the frame it self. RJ22
