Brought home a long lost truck
I brought home this truck today. I have owned it for 10 years, but it has been sitting at a friend's place for 4 years. Started right up and ran just fine. The gas dosen't smell too go though!!! I am going to clean it up Sunday, its real dirty!! I don't have any plans for it any time soon, so it will just sit again. Just a cool old 1 Ton with nice options!!

Re: Brought home a long lost truck
cab chassis didn't get the moldings.
I don't think I have ever seen a flat bed equipped like that. |

Re: Brought home a long lost truck
Longhorn man is correct, the moulding was deleted on a Cab and chassis truck (or a dually)
I would like to restore it totally stock someday, but i think I am sounding like the guys that say "I'm going to fix it up someday"!!! I have a mint 72 Cheyenne cab with roof marker lamps and doors I bought for it about 7 years ago. oh well, someday!!!

Re: Brought home a long lost truck
Joe,that`s a beauty.A diamond in the not-so ruff.Somebody knew what they wanted with that thing.
Along with the cab`n`chassis,Stepside Cheyennes/Supers had no mouldings. Has anyone seen stainless West Coast Srs on these trucks?I thought they were available. But,I`m starting to think not.I can`t recall if I`ve seen them, now. It`s been a long time if I have.I couldn`t find parts in the`80s.I had mine chromed.

Re: Brought home a long lost truck
Tim, I was actually just thinking that as I logged back onto this thread (the stepside gets no trim comment) and you are 100% right.
I musta had a bunch on my mind yesterday... even though I noticed the 4 speed... and the tilt... I never said 4 SPEED TILT!!!! |

Re: Brought home a long lost truck
I tried to do a title search to find the original owner, but you can no longer get that info. I would love to know what this truck was used for when new. They were sure riding in style!!

Re: Brought home a long lost truck
That`s what I was curious about.Prolly just a guy who knew his trucks and whet he wanted.I`ve seen the frame-mount RVs,a few wreckers, fire apparatus, and race car haulers(few),but this was none of the above.

Re: Brought home a long lost truck
Joe, if you get ahold of the guy you got it off of, he 'MIGHT' be able to get you in touch with the guybefor ehim.... and you might get lucky.
I did that once, and got to the widow of the original owner of my fist car... 68 cougar. I young and stupid, and after spending 4 days tracking down ppl, getting new numbers, and all that good crap, I was told i coulda just gone to theBMV and paid 5 bucks for the info. (This was in the early 90's when they'd hand out all your info) |

Re: Brought home a long lost truck
Well, I got it all cleaned up today. It had sat next to a tree, and it was real dirty!!! It dosen't look much better in the "clean" pics, but it looks a lot better in person. Put some fresh gas in it and drove it around some. It is just going to sit next to the shop for now. Here are some "cleaned up" pics.

Re: Brought home a long lost truck
I can fix the problem you have with the 72 cab. you won't have to restore it then, you can use it as a yard truck. Sorry Joe, I couldn't resist.
