Centering Rear Axle - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I swapped to a one piece drive shaft today and after it was installed I could tell that the rear end wasn't centered. The driveshaft rubs the right side of the crossmember while driving. I have the ECE Super Track Arm Bar installed, also. Can you center the axle without cutting the perches and moving the axle? It doesn't appear as though you can, but I thought I would ask the experts. Thanks!

If you have the Super Track Arm you must have trailing arm rear. And yes you can adjust it thats part of the reason for putting on the track arm is to be able to adjust.

axle center and pinion center are different

I need to have the pinion angle set, too, so I thought I could them at the same time. I know the kit can adjust the rear end, but since the ubolts pass throught the perches and the perches are welded, I didn't see how the rear could move

The rear wil adjust side to side via the track bar. The bushings in the front of the trailing arms will tweak enough to allow the axle to move sideways.

Sorry to beat this to death, but I just want to make sure I understand. When I unbolt the track arm bar to adjust it how do I get the axle to move? You can't adjust it with it installed, can you? Like I said, sorry to keep asking, but I'm not too familiar with this kind of stuff. BTW, glad to see you back on the board TXFirefighter!

With the truck on the ground, scoot underneath it.

Unbolt the track bar on the passenger side end. Now, take a ratcheting strap and hook one end to the frame and the other to the axle. Start cranking on the ratcheting strap till the space between the back of the tire and the innder fenderwell is the same on each side. Now, adjust the length of the track bar by screwing it longer or shorter as needed till the bolt pushes back through the hole. Remove ratchet strap and celebrate.
