I think it has to do with what year it is. I dont know why they would have changed them but for some reason they did. I could be wrong, but that is my theory anyway.

Rod, i did a pole on this a few months back, and found NO continuity on this. Some were round, others rectangle. I have seen them with blue lenses for high beam, but been told it was modified.
My GMC has the guages out of a '72 burb, and it has rectangle.

My 67 with the original instrument panel has the rectangle high beam indicator in red and my 71 with original instrument panel has round with blue. I think they should have made some bowtie shaped ones for kicks and every one would be posting wanting a speedo with the bowtie opening. LOL In fact that gives me a idea! I have some very small files and a rectangle opening that will be another winter project for me.

I agree with you...I cant say absolutely that any 67-70 ish say had only rectangular ones, but I have yet to see a speedwarning head with the round highbeam indicator in the speedohead. Speedwarnings only 67-69.
The book with errors that suggests its a parts intercahge from 67-78 had the speedos listed in those years.... I see errors in there often. But some may stick with that theory... we all know were a better source.
