Like a 2002 LQ9 6.0L As soon as the 5.3L is gone, I'm bringing my 6.0L home

Re: Gotta sell the 5.3L

Put it in the paper for 1200 bones, hoping to get 1000 for it, which is the price of the new 6.0L

Re: Gotta sell the 5.3L

Sorry Dean, doesn't come with a tranny. Used to be a 4x4 truck anyways

Plan is still to go with an NV4500 / NP241 combo

Re: Gotta sell the 5.3L

And what are you going to put a 6.0 in? Your like me Russ, you keep changing your mind every couple of days about how you are going to build your truck.

Re: Gotta sell the 5.3L

I wanted a 6.0L from the start, but they are NOT cheap. I only settled for the 5.3L cause I found one at a really good price, and hadn't had any luck finding a reasonably priced 6.0L after a year or so of searching. This 6.0L is very cheap at 1000 bucks, they typically go for 3x that much.

There are more reasons to wanting a 6.0L than just the fact that it has more power though.

These engines come stock with NV4500s behind them. So finding the parts to bolt the transmission up is a matter of going into the local $tealer$hip and bending over...

The 5.3Ls never came with a standard transmission from the factory, so finding a way to bolt a standard up isn't particularly an easy task... That, and there is no programming available for a 5.3L / standard engine combo, it'd need to be custom tuned to work properly.

The 6.0Ls in the 2500HDs also have hydroboost brakes, which works perfectly for me, becuase my 80 has hydroboost. The 5.3Ls never did, so I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to go about running the second return line.

The 6.0Ls are identical in size and shape as compared to the 5.3Ls, so the conversion engine mounts I picked up, and the fuel system I've been working on will work just fine. That, and the electrical is identical between the two engines, so all my wiring modifications will work fine

Overall, switching to the 6.0L makes my swap way easier, and cheaper too. All with the added benefit of more power, lol
