Easiest way to put in the spring on your column shifter without losing it??
I have lost one spring already and dont want to lose another one...so what is the easiest way to manuver these springs in?

Back in the late 70's, early 80's I was cleaning my parent's 71 Impala and noticed cigarette ashes in the gear shifter. Well, I took the shifter handle out to clean in there and couldn't get it back in. I was sooooo scared my mom was going to come out and want to use the car. Finally it went in, I do not know how, but thanks for the memories though.

I stab the spring with a small screw driver and use the screw driver to maneuver the spring into place.
