OK, so my transmission finally decides it time to die

It's been on borrowed time for the last 12 years/100,000 miles. So how hard is it to remove the transmission and transfer case from a 78 k-10. Any pointers, things to look out for.

No just kidding. It's not too bad if you just take your time, and make sure you have a tranny hoist or something that will work as a tranny hoist to make it MUCH easier and so you dont kill yourself

Some buddys, a tranny jack (get one its much safer then doing it by hand) , and a good afternoon.

Your going to have to remove both driveshafts (i tried to leave front one attched, I did it but it was much harder). To make life even easier if you want remove the transfer case firest then the tranny sents both will be removed any way.

Prewarning what out for hand had a buddy loss a finger doing it by hand, tranny fell and lost a finger.

big block 427 and 5 speed trans and ford 9 inch theyhave no home yet thinking what to put them in

and a 79 c60 trash truck um no idea i have one

Ok, I have the service manual and it says the same thing. I think your advice to break the transfer case from the transmission will make it al lot easier. The good news was I was able to pick up a GM rebuilt transmission at an auction for $100.00 a couple of years ago. It has not been good news for me on the truck front. My engine swap on my other truck turned into a mess as the replacement engine is shot and now this.

Well, after two days, transmission and transfer case are out. Now time to clean everything up, and put it all back together
