My first C10.

So I bought it today. It needs a little work, but not much and I drove it >100 miles back home with no problems. What do you all think? Any suggestions?

Re: My first C10.

Gosh I wish mine was that nice when I got it. I'm not much on the wheels, but thats just my personal preference. They look good on that truck. Looks darn good. Don't let it sit and rust

Edit: Fix the Chevrolet on the front. The "O" is crooked.

My suggestion is to leave it like it is. Very nice truck, hate to see a survivor like this one slammed and blinged

Re: My first C10.

First off...welcome to the site and nice truck!!!

Im going with CG, leave it as is. If it was me I would take the I6 out of that one and totally redo it as well and the engine compartment. Go out and buy another truck in lesser condition to drop, bag, hotrod, whatever but leave that beauty bone stock!

Re: My first C10.

That is real super looking truck. As far as changing things I'd use the Keep it Simple Stupid theory and change the white pieces in the grill and the headlite surrounds to chrome and put a chrome sport bumper on the rear. I think the wheels on the truck look great and again if you wanted to dress up the truck a touch more I'd recommend a set of 15x7 Rallyes and trim rings or the truck "Bud " GM wheels. The other thing I'd probably do is ditch the stock " Greyhound" steering for a nice Grant or Le Carra steering wheel.

Re: My first C10.

looks really decent !! you did a good job shopping around I would say!!...
mine is pretty much the same truck ..I was never that happy with the drum brakes even though they are power as well ..also losing the 5 bolt wheels..
but bu yours looks so orig int might be a shame to change much because of the value these trucks are starting to show as orig. I think the other guys are right not to change too much if its as orig as it looks..it might be worth some big bucks soon ..whats under the hood ? I read an article in this site about a guy who sanded his tires and made them whitewall (this works on white letter tires) it would look bizzare and tone down the white front which I think Looks *****in and different than the usual monochromatic scheme..
ohe yeah and like budd said straighten out those hoodletters !!!!
have fun with your new truck yer gonna like it!

Re: My first C10.

I wasnt even considering value of the truck to be honest...I think its just has a coolness factor to it like it sits...or you could drop it and put TT II's on it and look like everyone else on the block

It's your truck, but I'm with the others. get another truck to mess with.
the PO LOVED that truck---- &'d it shows,
you could probably just drive it to your next local car show, and simply walk away with a trophy, just because its so PRISTINE.
nice find..

Re: My first C10.

Hey guys,

Thanks all for the great replies. I agree that this is a great find. A little more background on the truck. It was partially restored about 10 years ago. If you look in the engine bay (click on the links in my original post), You'll see some over spray under the hood where it was painted. The wood bed is less than 2 years old and looks like it was done right. All in all it's in great shape and I think most of it is original. How do I check the VIN to see if the paint and engine matches up with the vin?

Also, I plan to use this truck and need a trailer hitch. If you look at the bumper, it doesn't have a spot for a hitch. Given that this truck is in such great shape, how should i install one?

Finally, any of you guys live around Atlanta? I'd love to have someone who knows more about these things than myself look it over.

Ohh yeah, one more thing. The owner had one of these sitting in his drive way when I picked up the C10. He said these are pretty rare.

Re: My first C10.

Funny, you live in the ATL area and your truck is almost identical to board member "shify" when he bought his.

And yes, the 55-58 cameo carriers are rare indeed!

Was that one his or just a pic you found?

That's just a pic I found, but his is the same color and looks just as nice. He said it doesn't run yet, but the body and int is very clean.
