Oil Pressure Help
Hey guys, need some help on my oil pressure concern. I just bought my truck in February and recently changed the oil for the first time. I used synthetic 5w30 and noticed that my oil pressure runs fairly high and am not sure if it is normal. Unfortunately, I didn't drive the truck, but maybe once/twice with the old oil, so not sure if what I'm seeing is normal. During idle, the pressure sits in between the 1/2 and 3/4 mark and regularly goes near the "H" when I accelerate. Is this normal?
Thanks! David

Re: Oil Pressure Help
Sounds ok to me, may want to hook up a guage and see what the psi actually is.

Re: Oil Pressure Help
I agree a quick check with another guage will sort things out. More than likely It will not be a problem though IMO. PO may have installed a high volume high pressure pump that you technicly do not need. Some will say different but no matter the opinion Low oil pressure will cause more problems that the high pressure you will get with these pumps. just my .02 RJ22

Re: Oil Pressure Help
Cool, thanks guys. I think the hardest part of owning these old trucks is sorting out what the previous owners have done. It's like solving a mystery that runs on for a few years. I think I would be a wreck if it wasn't for this website. Its like a cozy security blanket.
Thanks again! David

Re: Oil Pressure Help
you nailed it on the head about the POs and the mystery deal
but my oil psi is on the middle line at idle and goes to the 3/4 mark while driving, its the stock engine and i run 20/50w oil and stock gauge and the max psi the stock gauge reads is 60psi
