Re: any info on a SUPER rare truck i'm going to look at?

Maybe I should state that there was never a dually made in 67-72 with a pickup bed( stepside or fleetside)
As for the frame,dont know

Re: any info on a SUPER rare truck i'm going to look at?

i was wondering about that... i never saw a dually. i was dreaming of some sort of eaton dually rear axle.

is there any way to identify a 1 ton frame? i have only been up close and personal with my 1/2 ton frame.

the main reasons i'm interested are
1. possibility of a beefier frame
2. dually rear
3. flatdecked frame

so... #2 is questionable

what about #1 and #3?

Re: any info on a SUPER rare truck i'm going to look at?

Sounds like this was a motohome.
(being a dually with the walk thru cab)

What does he mean by flatdecked frame? Is it now a flat bed?

Re: any info on a SUPER rare truck i'm going to look at?

Dually were made, just not with a bed. He may be calling it a longhorn due to the long frame. I passed on a motor home dually. It sounds legit, just the seller is not up to par on the terminology? Go look and see what you think, besides "rare" in the truck world still isn't muscle car rare!

Re: any info on a SUPER rare truck i'm going to look at?

Thats what my cab looks like, it was a motorhome. If it has the cutout, then probably was a motorhome. The flat bed might just be the floor of the camper, or someone made a flatbed?

Re: any info on a SUPER rare truck i'm going to look at?

that's the truck! i think i'll cut the rest of the back out and run the cage from the cab out the opening onto the flatbed.

the dually IS an Eaton dually... but unless it's an HO110, i don't think i'll use it. i didn't realize the C&C dually would be a narrower WMS-WMS. i need a full width dually rear to run my HumVee wheels at the same width as my dually front axle.

does anyone know if the 1 ton frame is more stout than a 1/2 or 3/4?

thanks for the pics! and the info!

Re: any info on a SUPER rare truck i'm going to look at?

Yes - the 1T frame is taller than the 1/2 or 3/4. The channel is 1 inch taller if I recall correctly. The front portion of the 1T is the same dimension as the 3/4 and gets taller somewhere around the down sweep near the front cab mount. I think it's more of a fact that the frame gets lower. I think the top profile stays the same as the 3/4 frame but the bottom hangs down an extra inch. The automatic transmission crossmember requires a spacer to bolt to both surfaces of the frame. I assume the taller frame continues all the way to the rear.

you're not kidding! i bought a '70 K/10 from California. That K/10 came with TWICE as much rust as this NY native C/30 Camper!

This thing is in absolutely gorgeous shape.

i'm just waiting for the current owner to pull the motor and tranny (the reason he bought it) and i'll take it into posession.

i went and looked at it today, and i'm SERIOUSLY impressed with the beef of this frame. just from some overall looking, it also looks like the frame is made with thicker gauge steel.

There's a fellow in town here that made a flatbed out of an Open Road RV , works great , looks a little funny to me with the long cab to axle length, but he works the crap outta it .

My`70 was super clean east coast sheetmetal.too.Who goes camping in the salty winter?Or,even in the rain if it can be avoided? The only winter driving would be to head for the sun. Also, for a big one ton it`s never been worked or had employees rumping it.With that body RV body and stuff hanging and things on shelves, bumps and twists were handled very gently. These make for some of the tightest survivors out there.

Bob, the 1 ton frames are 2 inches taller all the way back. Easy to spot a 8 inch wide frame vs. the 6 inch 1/2 & 3/4 frames.

The motorhome Eaton duallys are HO-72's, the HO-110 would have 10 wheel studs and are found under the big grain trucks and such.

I found this to be true in my case too. It had the original camper from '69 (smelly, warn out old thing I sold to the moron, oops,my good neighbor up the street). The bed wood was rotten from trapped water I guess, but wow, rest of truck real nicely preserved.Been working it 9 years now with nary a problem.

Re: any info on a SUPER rare truck i'm going to look at?

for those who pull up this thread in a search for "eaton axle" or "C/30 dually" or something:

1. aside from being having 10 lugs (i'm not sure of that. just repeating what AmericanRider stated) the eaton HO110 also has a welded on dif cover.

2. the C/30 i bought has a VERY RARE bowtie Turbo400 tranny with straight cut gears, and NO PARK! these things are worth their weight in gold to hot-rodders

American Rider - thanks for correcting my mistake. I will try and file that away for future use. I knew that they were taller just not how much.
