Starter shims

Okay - Fudge has a new starter in it (from the previous owner). However, it's certainly noisy. I read that it's suppose to be shimmed but I know it's not. Anyone have ideas of the shims needed? I'm hoping it's just out of alignment a little and the shims might quiet it down. I have had to tighten it several times to try and quiet it down.....

Thoughts? Right now I have it about the best it's been but it's still noisy.

Re: Starter shims

If it's too far away from the flywheel causing the noise cut starter shims about a inch from the outer bolt hole then add to that bolt only and that will angle the starter closer to the flywheel.

Once you get it sounding good remove each bolt one at a time and add removable loctite to the threads.
