What holds the vent window glass

What holds the vent window glass in the metal frame? I see a black peice of rubber in between the metal frame and glass, is it just black silicone? My vent window glass broke and I got a new peice of glass, just dont know how to hold it in.

Re: What holds the vent window glass

That Black Rubber Piece Is What Holds It In, Usually Use An Oil Or Other Lubricant To Soften The Rubber, Put The Glass In, And The Oil Will Actually Seat The Glass, You May Need To Get A New Piece Of Rubber From A Glass Company If The Rubber Is Worn Too Bad, Thats Bout All I Know And How It Was Explained To Me

Re: What holds the vent window glass

I have been searching and didnt come up with much, I was hoping all it was was black silicone, oh well. I think I need a new peice of rubber then (where can I get one?), and some more instruction on how to do this, thanks guys.

Re: What holds the vent window glass

I think I seen the vent window seals in LMC and or chevy duty/classic parts.

Also the vent window handle is held in by a roll pin. if you need to remove it from the old and put on the new, then here's how.

In the back you'll see a tiny tiny hole, on top and bottom. I used a paneling nail and small ball peen with the vent window open, and drove out the pin. Then the inside handle comes off with a little gasket I think and small thin metal ring, no idea what they are for but mine was bent up all over. Then you'll see a torx head screw which holds the outer part/ the button on the outside onto the window. Just remove the torx head screw and pull the 3 pieces out, the inside piece which goes inside the handle, holds the spring and lines up with the button, will come out on the inside of the window, then the chrome button on the outside and it's gasket will come out the outside.

it may sound confusing but you'll be ok once you get the pin out, and then the torx head loose. Just watch how it comes out, it's easy.
