Replacement Speaker
Will the replacement speakers I see everyone selling work with the factory AM radio? It is stamped 8 to 10 Ohms do these replacements fall in this range or are they just for new (modern) radios? Is there any place to buy the factory speaker - I have checked e##y and searched online but can't seem to find anything. Thanks for the advice!

Contact Pickmup on this board. He sold me a new speaker rated at the correct ohms for our factory radios. Bolts right into the original dash.

My 71' Cheyenne Super has the stock AM/FM and the 36 year old speaker went out 2 weeks ago. I called Custom Autosound who makes most of the speakers all the repo parts guys sell, and the tech rep told me their speakers wouldn't work with an original factory unit. Theirs is a 4 ohm. They said only the 8 to 10 ohm would work with the factory unit. If I used theirs, it would sound muffled and might hurt something
I bought a NOS Delco factory speaker from www.dennischevytruckparts.com in Florida for $40.00. Part number was 1262. Not cheap for primitive technology, but hey it sounds great to me, you can't go wrong with stock, and it bolted right in with zero problems. Good luck. |
