Pics of inside bed please

I am rebuilding the lower lip on the inside of the bedside and need help with the hole placement. Can someone upload a shot of the lower section of the inside bedside from a fleetside bed. I need from the wheel tub to the back wall and from the wheet tub to the tailgate.

Hey East side. Is that how you do it. Gut the wood, paint and reinstall if you dont have the wood ready? I want to redo my box but do you do the floor them paint or visa versa? Or remove the box, remove the wood, fix and dent repair, Paint, then do the wood. How does the box holdup with no wood in it? is it sturdy when drivin?

Hello Kel,

Before I answer your question here is another way of doing the bed floor. This is the bed in my 50' P/UP. If you look close you will notice that the main bolts that hold the box to the frame that go through the bed floor are not able to be seen. This style gives the floor a floating feel and no odd size bolts in the middle of certain planks. Gives a very clean look. Street rods look good done this way.

Should have probably cleaned up the bed for the shot but to much to do and not enough time.

With the 70' I decided to go the factory look as this is more of an old hot rod look that I'm after. Satin black paint, as little trim as possible so no s/s bolts or bed strips, these will be painted black. I don't want a fussy or an expensive look. (You have to decide what is best for you before you order.)

*First remove the wood, remove the bed (on a need to basis) and stand bed on bulk head end.

*I removed the bed. I had lots of dents and filling of holes where trim used to be as I decided to shave the truck. Most of this was done before the bed was removed. Removal allows you to get at hard to reach spots.

*This is where you check for rusted bed bars that hold the wood to the box and the box to the floor. I replaced three in mine. I had a local guy make new bars for me or you can order them as they are now available after market. I also banged the dents out of the wheel wells at this point as they were easy to access. The bed is pretty sturdy and I removed the old bed bars and installed the new. I took everything to bare metal, did all PO repairs over (no bondo truck here.) After removing any loose scale and surface rust I then used Zero Rust in all the bottom hard to get at areas. The frame as well.

* Primer and paint is next when finished it was put on the truck then the final paint was applied.

*You can run the truck at this point without a floor. The real strength is the box itself as the wood is mainly just your floor. I'm waiting for the bed wood package to come and as I stain and paint bolts and strips I'll be driving my truck. When everything is ready to be installed I'll take a couple days and install the floor. Be careful not to scratch the paint .... slow and steady does it.

Good luck,

esll.

Hey Kel,

I just opened up the mail box .... and there it was my FREE Mar - K catalouge. There is a section how to install a bed floor that you might find of interest.
