Need pics of rear e-brake cable attachments
Hi folks,
Truck must be missing something, there is nothing for the rear e-brake cable housing to mount into, or I may have gotten the wrong cables. The cables end partway up the trailing arms, and will attach fine to the intermediate cable (which might also be wrong but I doubt it.) Looking in my chassis service manual it shows a bracket on the trailing arm which is missing. Doesn't look like there's any hole to bolt it in either. Did some cables end at the hole in the frame? Seems like having the end of the cable being mobile would allow up-down motion of the suspension to apply the brakes by changing the effective length of the cables??? thanks for any help.

There are brackets spot welded to the outside of the trailing arms about 1/2 way back down them.

Check the inside of the arm. If they were replaced they may have been reversed, and that would put the brackets on the inside.

Re: Need pics of rear e-brake cable attachments
OK then, at some point in the past the truck lost the brackets. There are some spots that look like old spot-welds, just no bolt holes.
Does anyone make these brackets, or do I get to fab them/have them fabbed?

Re: Need pics of rear e-brake cable attachments
Thanks much for the pics OldGold. That's kinda what I had in mind for the brackets to look like; helps to see where on the arm they should mount.
Guess I might be able to scrounge something from a junkyard too, but looks like a pretty easy cut-n-weld job...have to see how much it'd cost.
