This Third Row Seat business it outta control! *rant*
I've been shopping for a late model GM 3rd row seat (fold-up/take out) with the integrated seat belts for some time now. I've been watching evilbay for some time, and I believe the prices are just outta hand. I know they are an expensive dealer option, but the way these things are being bought up (as it appears) it seems there are plenty to go around. it looks like folks are getting between $500 and $900 for them. someone apparently thinks they are sitting on little gold mines! pardon the pun... as with so much ebay stuff now, the guys who are selling them typically have several they offer, so they really aren't individuals. are these seats really that popular? other brands that are comparable aren't getting that much...
it just seems ridiculous! i'm having trouble because i'd like to have a set, but i want to recover them in factory materials. at the rate they're going, i just can't sink that kind of money into them plus upholstery. the worst part is that i am trying to find a set of cloth ones that aren't really in very good shape. that seems impossible! am I just way off and being selfish here? anyone have any ideas? do you think i could contact dealers to see if they have any that were replaced due to damage? i'm just so frustrated i can't think straight about it... *rant off*

Ebay gets to be a frenzy driving the prices beyond the value. Try checking with craigslist or your local wrecking yards.

Have you tried car-part.com or any online auto salvage networks?

I ended up getting mine through evil-bay on a buy it now deal. They had 3 or 4 BRAND NEW ones at $275 plus over priced shipping. Still ended up at less then $400 total. I looked at a local wrecking yard and after taking a look at it I asked how much. The jerk kid behind the counter said they wanted $800 for their used one. I told him he could keep it and went home and hit the Buy it now button and picked up the last one.

Are they shoulder belts, or are they just lap belts? The beauty of the newer third row seats that I found is that they have the shoulder belts that do not need to be hooked to the body anywhere. It makes it nice for cruising with the top off, plus they come out quickly with a flip of a lever. I looked and the person that I bought my seats from has sold a few more sets of 2007's . The prices ranged from $400 to as little as $250 for the same set.

I dont know what year these are but they are very comfy! I may be using them in my 2wd blazer down the road. Although with the prices going so high I should sell them and fund more work on Low Buck

Hmmm... Are those front seats or rear seats from a late model GM SUV?

Re: This Third Row Seat business it outta control! *rant*
I remember a few years ago a long thread about installing seats with integrated seat belts. There was a lot of discussion over the concern that they would be more dangerous in an accident than original lap belts unless the truck floor where the seat was mounted was reinforced. Anyone else remember that discussion?

Re: This Third Row Seat business it outta control! *rant*
wow, rok. those are almost exactly what i'm looking for! do you happen to know the trim code or color of them? the reason is that i need that darker brown/tan color on the plastic parts, but i'm not sure what it is. is it the one called buckskin? or is it just Tan? I'm needing the ones with that darker plastic color...

Re: This Third Row Seat business it outta control! *rant*
I bought a rear third row seat off of eBay late list year to go in my 1981 Blazer for $150 or $175 plus S&H. THe cover had a tear in it so it was a little cheaper. BUT, I gave the guy my Fed Ex account number to ship it. When it arrived the upper frame assembly was a little tweaked AND all of the side plastic pieces were cracked or broken so they are going to have to be repaired eventually.
How are you all going to get these to attach to the floors? I was thinking about using the frame work off of my original rear seat and somehow grafting it to the frame of the later model third row seat. As far as reinforcing the floor, I need to do that my self for the new holes and figure out how to get the seat belt retractors to work right. The seatbelts in the front pair of 99-Up Silverado bucket seats that I have do not lock with you pull the belt all the way out??? |
