Sandblasters?

I'm in the market for a sandblaster for cleaning lots of small parts and cab and bed floors.

Does anybody have advise on a good ones??

I have a large shop compressor to support it, just looking for some advise and input from current users........

I can't give you advice on Mfg's of sandblasters but I can give some feed back from 1st hand expirience. I have a small pressure pot ( 20 gal ) sand blaster, 25 cfm compressor and an air dryer. I blasted 2 frames last yr. and ea. took me about 6-8 hrs to complete. I chewed up 2 ball valves and 2 blasting guns. So the inexpensive ( Harbor Frieght ) units are cheap junk. You'll also need a good blasting hood and respirator to protect yourself. A suppied air hood would be best and would help keep you cool when it's hot out. I would say that this set-up is good for occasional small job, fender, gate, door, but if you want to do larger items hire a professional. I'll be doing 3 frames soon and a professional will be hired.

www.tptools.com is where i got my cabinet from american made in the usa have had no problems with stuff wearing out from substandard parts have had it close to 10years// you must have excellent DRYYY AIR for it to work excellent

I built my own based on a design I saw at Harbor Freight. I just bought the replacement gloves and mounted them up. I also got the lexan for the window and light cover out of the "scrap" pile at Applied Plastics for free.

It cost me less than half the price and I built it to size.

we have a tp blaster and it has never let us down. Cuts through just about anything. Knowing what "sand" to blast is key. Different sands for different paint/metals. Watch out when you blast thin metal. Blasting actually creates heat and will warp metal. I ruined a good radio delete plate like this once.

Blasting is nasty work , if you can avoid it DO
I have a cabinet and even the small stuff is tedious work
there are so many ways to strip I'd do your homework.
I've tried to be real careful and even small jobs with the cabinet sand particles get everywhere
I like my cabinet but I'll never do large stuff again (outside the cabinet)
If it were me in need blast the bare minimum needed and grind the rest
the sand will haunt you !

Here's another vote for tptools. I did alot of research when I bought mine, and I have no regrets, the quality is top notch and I've had no problems whatsoever.

My comments were towards a pressure pot sand blaster that you use out doors because he mentioned doing cabs & bed floors, not a cabinet type blaster. I would love to have one of them, and will some day.

We got one of the cheap pressurized tanks from Harbor Freight. It works ok as long as you have a large compressor. If you have a little one, you will be sitting around waiting for air all the time. The valves are real cheap on it though. They stop working real soon after a few uses. It gets the job done though. The best thing we did when we blasted my truck frame and lots of parts was to rent a big diesel compressor and huge blaster with a monster line about the size of a fire hose. That thing was mean. That took some work to hang on to the hose while working, but you can just make a quick pass and there was bare metal showing. It went through sand fast.
