going from florida to mass

may 5th my friends and i will be taking a road trip from daytona to massachusetts. my 67 and my mustang will be the two vehicles making the journey. now my truck is pretty much all original, i rebuilt the carb a couple months ago, replaced the fuel pump, cap, rotor, wires, spark plugs and 4 new tires. just about everything else is from 67.

now i'm not dumb and i know things will break. i have a decent amount of money saved and a credit card so hopefully this will be enough to cover anything that breaks.

my questions are what are some cool places to visit not to far off 95 (1-2 hours) to just hang out and have a good time?

and when i break down would anyone be willing to give a hand to help fix it?

there's going to be 4 of us, all car guys, with a decent tool set and an extra vehicle to go to parts stores so it wont be much.

Re: going from florida to mass

When you're in the RI area (just South of Mass), suggest detouring through Newport. It'll add an hour or so, and you may be itching by then to complete your trip (Tourist season here really doesn't get started 'till a bit later). A trip around Newport's Ocean Drive is beautiful. Some area houses date to the 1700's. Mansions are nice too. Adjacent island called "Jamestown" has [IMO] the prettiest coastal spot called "Beaver Tail". Right on the rocky coast, lighthouse, etc. (Avatar to the left was taken there. You can't see it but the Newport bridge is there visible just over the bed.)

Don't expect warm weather though. Spring doesn't spring here 'till mid May or after. Stays cooler along the coast because of the cold water.

Email me at mnunn454@cox.net and I'll send you my phone number should you get in the area and need it.

Re: going from florida to mass

i'm from mass so i'm used to the cold weather. i've never been through newport though. and the car show at the tweeter sounds like a good place to end the trip.

thanks,

chris
