rod bearing end play?

I dont have my indicator setup with me here at home so I cant give an exact amount but I can move my rods side to side about .01 is this to much?
I dropped the oil pan as you may have guessed and the four bolt block I bought is only two! So I will be posting the sellers name, he is supposed to call me back this afternoon. I dont get any movement when I push against the crank so Im assuming the bearings are tight that way its just side to side where I get movement. Any insight would be great, thanks!

Re: rod bearing end play?

you must be able to move the rods back and forth at least the thickness of a sheet of paper. You will never be able to check main bearings unless you remove the cap and plastigage the bearing.

Re: rod bearing end play?

My Haynes manual says end play should be .008 to .014. on the rods.

Re: rod bearing end play?

killer, thanks yall. Ive hit a snag though the bar that goes from the frame to the block that the clutch pivots on wont come off, I cant figure for the life of me how to get the damn thing out of there. Im trying to get the drivers side header off but that bar is going through there, any ideas?

Re: rod bearing end play?

The bracket on the frame has two bolts/nuts.Take them out and it should do it.If not(tube won`t come off ball),at least you can back that ball pivot out, then remove everything.

Re: rod bearing end play?

The bracket is riveted in so I can take it off without drilling out the rivets. Is there a link to any website where I can see whats inside the tube cause I the threaded parts sticking out both ends of the tube turn free but wont back in or out. also the tube is super sloppy loose Im assuming thats how it should be since it worked fine.

Re: rod bearing end play?

there should be a nut or bolt on the end of the tube holding it to the bracket
