SPACE BETWEEN HOOD & TOP BAR 67 > 72 P/UP's.

Is there supposed to be a space between the top grill bar and the hood on 67 > 72 GMC P/UP's.

There is a filler part between the top of the grill and the hood on the GMCs. I know that it varies over the 67-72 years and that the laters years is a thicker fill piece. Is that what you are asking about?

The top bar could be what you refer to as a filler part, it is a separate piece that screws to the top of the grill. I think we are talking about the same thing. Your hood rubber stops bolt to this piece. When the hood is closed there seems to be a 3/8's gap here which tends to make the hood appear not long enough.

If you adjust the hood to close up this gap the back of the hood looks like it has too large a space between the hood and the wiper valance.

Is this factory as I have seen this on very original P/UP's???

* Are Chevy hoods 67 > 72 the same as GMC hoods?

What you are seeing is correct.
In 69, GMC kept running the 68 style fenders, but adapted the shorter 69 - 72 hoods. The top bar on the 69 - 72 GMC is used to fill the gap.

Thanks "Longhorn" as I appreciate this insight. Where I live there are lots of Chevy's but very few GMC 67 > 72 trucks.

So I would assume that the hoods are the same for Chev and GMC of this period. I was thinking maybe a Chev hood might be longer.

Re: SPACE BETWEEN HOOD & TOP BAR 67 > 72 P/UP's.

your right, with the exception of the badges and hols, the hoods swap from chevy to GMC no problem. It's the fenders that catch ppl off guard.
GMCs were sold in small numbers compaired to Chevy. I *think* the accepted number is 1 GMC to 3 Chevys...which would be 1/4 GMC to 3/4 chevy. The problem with this figure is that this is for all trucks... GMC was more common in the larger truck market, so in light duty, the numbers may well actually be smaller.
It's a total p!sser (IMO) that there are no production numbers... just speculation.. on the GMC models.

I knew a guy that worked in the Baltimore plant and he said every 5th truck was a GMC.That`s my hear-say story and I`m stickin`to it.
