Will this work? 75 5 lug rear end to replace my 69 gmc 6 bolt?
Today I was at the junk yard and found a 5 lug 342 posi under a 75 chevy 3/4 ton flat bed. It seams strange that it was bolted to that 3/4 ton suspension.
I need to know if this can be made to fit under my 69 1/2 ton 2 X4 GMC. I will be going down there tomorrow morning to rip it out if it will work. So this info is urgently needed. Here are some pics

You want to put a 5 lug rear in a 1/2 ton? That truck (3/4 ton) shouldnt have had a 5 lug anyway. And no,the shock mounts are different as are the spring perches. It will work with those modifications to make it work on 67-72s though

I thought you said it was a K15.K15 means 1/2 ton GMC 4x4.
So,assuming instead it is a 2wd,with leafs....you will need to fab up a set of mounts for springs for the springs still as they are different than ones from a newer model,as are the shock locations. Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 04-06-2007 at 10:29 PM. |

Anything can be made to fit. The spring pads will need to be changed as well as the shock mount - nothing a grinder and welder won't take care of.
You can buy new trailing arm perches/spring perches. - and you can cut the shock mounts off your existing '69 Is your truck 4x4 or 2x4 - cause if it is 4x4 your wasting your time - as there isn't chevy front axle with a 5 bolt pattern
