What is the Problem???
The rear or my truck is lower on the drivers side than on the pass side. What could cause this? Don't say bent frame...
Some background info: I bought a lowering kit off evilbay (5" spings, nitroactive shocks, shock relocaters, and panhard bar). The guy said it was all 6 months old and he was upgrading to bags so he didn't need it. After installing it all, the whole truck leaned to the drivers side. The PO lowered it by melting the springs...unevenly. So I replaced the front springs & shocks w/ brand new stuff. The rear still leans on the drivers side. I bought a new bed thinking my old rusty bed was the problem... not so. The picture doesn't look too bad, but at my work p-lot it looks like it leans a lot. So I measured from the top of the axl to the top of the frame on both sides and there seems to be about approx 1/2" to 1" difference. But looking at the bed looks way more that that. The front of the truck looks straight as an arrow. Anyone else have/had this problem? Any ideas, fixes, or what I should check next? How/what do I measure to see if my frame is tweaked?

Re: What is the Problem???
Sounds to me like you have a weak spring on the lower side.

Re: What is the Problem???
you tried double checking it in the driveway or on a flat parking lot?
if you get the same thing, then i would measure frame to pavement, this will remove the rotted wood in the bed as a major variable If still messed up, I'd inspect/suspect the springs. It looks like it has already been lowered, did some one heat the coils, or did they replace them with aftermarket stuff? Last edited by Longhorn Man; 04-06-2007 at 04:46 PM. |

Re: What is the Problem???
My truck is the same way. Still has the original springs in it. I've just been putting it off till i get new springs and shocks.
I was afraid that my frame was twisted also but i doubt it cuz i am pretty positive that when a motor torques it lifts the left side first ... i could be wrong.

Re: What is the Problem???
I wasn't sure if it would be the springs b/c they were supposedly 6 months old. But you never know what crap people are selling. Apparently the PO melted all four springs differently until he got the truck sitting right. When I pulled the front springs one was 4" taller than the other. When I replaced all springs/shocks I expected it to be right. That's what I get for buying used stuff for the rear...
Thanks for your assessments and easing my worries about having a tweaked frame!

Re: What is the Problem???
Find a level flat spot, take a floor jack & jack the truck up in the center of the rear. Get the tires off the ground & measure to the top of each wheel well. If its uneven, the problem is in the front. If not jack the front up in the center of the engine crossmember until the wheels are off the ground & measure the rear. Thats the easiest way to ell if its front or rear.
