VIN mystery

Hello-new here to the site. Just bought a '80 shortbed with a blown engine. I know it is a small block and I know how to tell off of the engine stamp what it is, but I'd like to know what came in the truck originally. VIN reads CCZ14.... to start and I think from what I've read the "z" is the engine code; but of course the vin decoders I've seen don't list "z" as an option. any clue anyone?

Re: VIN mystery

Thanks a lot man. Don't know why I didnt think of that but it makes some other things make more sense. Just had the truck towed home today so now I need to see what trans/rearend I've got and then see what small block somebody put in it. Thanks again.
