WIW: 60-66 School bus

I have no pics, and i know nothing about this truck. It's sitting in a yard down the street from me, and I plan to go knock on the door of the house and see if they are interested in selling it.

All i do know is from a distance of about 75 yards, it looks pretty solid. It's also painted like a school bus. No clue if it's factory, or if it's some old guy havin fun with a burb. Oh, it is not a full size bus. It looks to be about the size of a suburban.

But, I know nothing about the value of these trucks. Ideally they'll say, just take it. second best is, give me $400 and it's yours. but if they want a real price for it, what should be my limit? should i price it like i would a 67-72?

i know this is a tough question to answer, but any feedback you have would be appreciated.

thanks!

Re: WIW: 60-66 School bus

From what I've found, a lot of rural school districts used them in the '60s as school buses. I saw that auction a while back too.
I've seen a couple other auctions of the big 3/4-ton Panel trucks that had side windows cut in them, barn doors in the back, and several rows of seats. The kids would get in the passenger door and walk back.
I remember the two I saw had the big 8-lug wheels.
Don't know what they went for.

A conversion company did them. Every now and then a brochure pops up on ebay. Some companies converted them into buses, ambulances, air port taxis, etc.

the one that i've found has windows down each side, and has the barn doors out back.

I'm a bit preoccupied with buying a house right now, but once things settle down i'm gonna make and see if it's a for sale item or not.
