I went to look at a 72 camper special today, guy wants $1000 for it. It has 402, auto, a/c tilt. etc.... what I was wandering is when I looked at the glove box to see what options it had one of them is 1YG820 "special promotion" anyone know what that is?? sorry i have a picture from my cell phone but i cant get it on my computer to put it on here. Thanks for any help. JOE

Hi Joe, thats the highlander option. Should have among other things the plaid seat inserts.

Re: option question on 72 camper special.

That sounds like a special price option but LHM will probably know.At $1000.00 in any kind of driveable condition it might be a pretty good deal.Even if it was pretty rusty it has some nice options. Will the guy come off that price any?

Re: option question on 72 camper special.

Here is the Highlander special promotion paperwork, and a pic of my spid label that has the same promo option. If it still has the 402, it is well worth the $1000.

Re: option question on 72 camper special.

Yeah it has a plaid seat in it! It has alot of options, not alot of rust at all, but a few dents and scrapes. I think I can get it for $800 cash.

chipflyer I'm in Salina.

Thanks everyone for the help and I will get some pics soon!

Re: option question on 72 camper special.

There were 3 levels of Highlander packages, too.Definately a steal,Mrs.1fun71.And,if your husband can get it for $800,you did good choosing him.
What color is this? So,is it a CustomDeluxe on the fenders and CustomCamper script on the doors?Or,was it ordered with the CustomCamper nameplates on the fenders?

Re: option question on 72 camper special.

thanks I think i will get now! Yeah my bad its a custom camper with custom deluxe on the fenders the script on the doors, looks like it has two extra fuel tanks. every piece under the hood is still intact, all the a/c parts overflow bottles and maybe even a smog device?? under the alternator. Oh and yes the big block is still there and it runs and drives.

Also it has two tone paint with uppper and lower trim. still has the original radio TOO!

Re: option question on 72 camper special.

yeah I believe it has the gray plaid, the Paint is really faded but I think it was light green w/ white in the middle. It is currently sitting outside uncovered and has been for the last year. It doesn't have alot of rust but it was definitely a hard used truck. just needs a little tlc.

Re: option question on 72 camper special.

If you can drive it home and it has a big block in it, a thousand sounds like a great deal.

although I was alive at the time but pretty young (7) can anyone tell me why plaid seatcovers were thought to be cool in '72? I guess it matched a lot of folks clothes at the time! Thank God GM didnt come out with a special disco edition in the mid 70's with polyester seatcovers and purple shag carpet!
