I have a I-6 in the truck I am restoring. 1969. How can I find out what the displacement is? Are there numbers/codes stamped into the block? I want to sell this engine and it would be nice to tell interested parties what they are looking at.

A dress number will be stamped into a pad on the passenger side just behind the distributor position. That's usually the date the engine was assembled on plus a 2 or 3 letter code... [My L6 292 is stamped, F0626UH] There's a casting number cast in raised digits that give the date the block was cast on the drivers side of the lower block near the rear.
The way to tell a 292 from the smaller L6s is to measure the height of the lifter cover panels on the passenger side. A 292 is about 6" high, a 230 or 250 would have 4" high covers. 292s have asymmetrical motor mounts, the passenger side mount is forward of the fuel pump. On a 250 the fuel pump is in front of the motor mount, opposite the one on the drivers side. 292s are 1 3/4" taller than the smaller L6s.

Post a picture of the passenger's side of the engine, most guys here can tell you the difference. Meanwhile, I found this using the forum's search feature:
