Rally wheel ID

I just bought an '89 Suburban 1/2 ton 2wd to use as my work vehicle. The tires are about due for replacement, and as I try to decide what type and size I want I'm wandering what width wheels are on it now. The original tire size is 235/75/15, but I'm hoping I can get some meats on it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Joe

Re: Rally wheel ID

if stock the rims can be from 8 to 10 depending on what kind, but most likely id say 8 if they are steel rims with rings and caps.

Re: Rally wheel ID

Yeah, I guess I should have said that they're the silver painted steel wheels with the trim rings and center caps.

Re: Rally wheel ID

They are 15x6.5 15x7 or 15x8 nothing stock came wider than 15x8. Most got the 15x7 rallys and fewer got 15x8 rallys. The 15x6.5 rallys came on vans and those are the most narrow of them. If you can take a picture of them it would be easier to say what size. I have a set of 31x10.50 tires on my 15x8 rallys.

Re: Rally wheel ID

Have you checked the inside edge of the wheel to see if they are marked? I don't know if the rallys are, but some steel wheels will have the size stamped on them.

My truck has 15X8 rallys. You can see them in the pics in my signature line.

My experience with Suburbans ('80's anyways) is that they got 15x8's. I have yet to see one that was any other size.
Doesn't mean it hasn't been replaced by the PO so you never know.

As far as the stock rally's they will always have the size stamped in the back of them. It might be hard to see if they are even sort of dirty, and they usually are.

Re: Rally wheel ID

If its a Suburban, 90% of the time they are 15x8's, and no there were never any factory 10" wide wheels.

As Slonaker stated, they are marked on the rim what size they are.
