What Parts R Needed 4 I6 To 350/350 Upgrade?
I need a list of parts I will need to upgrade from a 292 Inline 6 / 3 Speed to a 350 V8 Turbo 350. Will I need motor mounts, Tranny cross member, etc. etc? Give me an Idea of what parts I will need to start collecting.
Also, does someone make new motor mounts to use instead of the old factory ones. It will probably be a high horsepower(about 400hp) 383 motor with lots of torque. All this is for a 67 C10 LWB truck. Yes, motor mounts, motor mount towers, tranny crossmember, and I'd recommend a new radiator (at least a 3 core). You'll need another driveshaft too, I can't remember if it will be longer or shorter though.

So, you use V8 Towers, and then can I upgrade to new (is it polyurathane) motor mounts? I have heard people say to use brand new (better quality) motor mounts. Anyone know anything about that? Darren

I just did that swap a month ago. The motor mount towers were the same I just had to change the motor mount. You will need the transmission crossmember. And I went to a three core radiator. Also what I did was I got a shorttail shaft 350 turbo and put the engine in the I6 postion so I wouldn't have to lengthen the driveline. As a fact I didn't have to do anything to the driveline. Thanks for the input. So, are you saying the towers are exactly the same a small block towers? Or, are you are saying they "will work"? I'm only asking because I'm planning on a high Horsepower motor, and only wan't to do this one time. Also, is there a diffrence in the strength of a short vs long shaft TH 350 tranny? Thanks? The smallblock wont bolt on the 292 towers(they are staggered),it will bolt to the 6/250 towers,& take the same engine mount. I have mine set up on the 6/250 mounts,to move it back,but some guys dont like how tight the HEI dist fits to the firewall. On the factory V8 stands,the eng sits farther ahead(2wd). If you are building a hot smallblock,a little weight transfer can be a plus.......69longhorn.
