LMC steel bed question

In my Spring Chevrolet 67-72 Catalog, page 25, part #20 (38-7975) is described as Tail Pan-Complete steel bed fleetside 67-72 (1) $129.95

I called and asked if this was was the floor of the bed, as the picture in the catalog of item 20 is more like the rear cross member under the tailgate.
The young lady just read the description back to me.
Has anyone any more info or personal knowlege of item #20?
I need a new floor in my 72 long bed
Thanks

Re: LMC steel bed question

The tailpan is the piece that is visible just below the bottom of the tailgate. It forms a 90* angle with the tailgate end of the bed floor. You can't see it from behind with the bumper installed.
Here is a pic of it:

Re: LMC steel bed question

Also known as the rear cross sill when used on a wood floor bed.

Re: LMC steel bed question

Thanks, mine is fine, just needs some wire brushing, but I'm stumped on the bed floor, no way i can find a solid bed around here to cut up.
How about late model trucks, anybody ever cut a floor out of a late model wreck and use it in a long bed 72?
Thanks Again for the replys,
Robin
