Re: found on an old farm

It's weird how some guys are like that. Just having them is good enough for them. They think it's like a savings account, I guess. I ran across a guy like like in Santa Maria, with a barn full of old ('50's) Caddys - the barn was just about to fall in on the cars but he didn't care. Makes ours worth just a little more, I suppose.

Re: found on an old farm

Theres alot of autos like that around here, there is a orange and black 72 chevy long step up the street from me that has been in this guys yard since 86, it is in good restorable condition. Almost half the town has asked about it including me, the guy wont sell it because his dads, and its a crying shame because the longer it sets there its gonna keep getting in worse shape. Then theres a 57 merc that hasn't moved out of its tracks since the vietnam war, it belonged to a boy who went off to war and never made it back, and the family just didn't want the car bothered.

well, it's kinda shadey, but you could possibly call a code enforcer or something, and then go back acting all innocent and ask again if any of them are up for grabs.

If the guy is using a walker to get around, does he really think he will ever fix'em up?

Re: found on an old farm

There's a few around here like that too. A '69 RS Camaro that's been sitting in the same place for 20 years that's gonna be fixed up. And in another spot, a '66 Chevelle that was in barn by the rode. A few months ago they tore the barn down & drug the car into the middle of the pasture & still want sell it

Thumbs down Re: found on an old farm

There are guy's like this I'm sure in every community that someone lives in. We have a guy here with a 58' Vette stored in a lean to garage beside his house who leaves the rear half of the car exposed enough so everyone going past his place (just off an old highway) can see it. NOT FOR SALE is the response when asked the the million dollar question .... if he will sell it. Why not move it further in the shed and put doors on it and lock it up??? IMHO he likes seeing the disappointed look on the new face standing there in front of him. His whole life revolves arround disappointing others.

Sad when that is all people have to live for....

Re: found on an old farm

I had a guy that was up in landcaster Calif one of the route 66 roads and he has a lot of old cars like that but you have to remmber

Now i know i'm not much of a guy that has a lot od skills on welding or replacing body parts but i know the Junk Business and that makes me know why people hold on to theses cars yes there assetts

and i remmber this one guy that had 2 1971 AAR cudas and some guy did that to him by trying to back door him like that He had a sence of humor he took them to a crain yard paid a crain guy 300.00 to drop a 2500 pound steel plate on the 1970 AAR cuda and broght it back to the house and sat it back in the same spot and put a sign on it don't bug me

see most of use like to steel these cars or trucks from people that worked hard to get them or they just poped up in there yard

I Knew this gentalman that had a 1968 charger in his yard it had one fender that was damaged he got buged for so long one day the car came up missing
well he's now serving 18 years for mudering the guy and his son for steeling it

Remmber use tack when you talk to people and don't low ball them that is the one thing that gets on peoples nerves

they kinda know what its worth you could ask them are you looking for a trade cus i've Been to Kansas and man you go in there and low ball well i just say make sure people know where you went

One last thing if you have a 1969 datona superbird in your grouge and for some strange reason your wife or your mother died in it IT would be somthing you would never want to part with cus its the last thing your wife kid Dad mom ever touched of yours

and now you have to move it out side cus you bought a new car and every7 one in the world wants it they wont leave you alone you get a little tiresome of people coming up trust me if you had a Tucker in your house and people saw it you would understand why people hate when people ask how much

one you don't have enough money for one and 1964--1972 cars and trucks are not growing on trees any more and there have been so many scams

all i say leave well enough alone cus you tick him off he might be on the last of his nerves and dose not care and trust me out where he is his bother might be part of code and his uncal could be the sharrife and your in more trouble then you started Use TACK when you approch people with old cars and trucks

I like to use the line are you looking for a part to get it running i try to talk them into keeping them then 3 months later they some times call me up and ask do you know of any one that would want to buy my truck or car

People hate to be hussaled treat them like a person they might give you the fram

thats how i've gotton all my trucks and camaros nov'a cuda's and 2 chargers

the one word TACK you never walk up to a women and ask you want to go to bed with me treat people with respected and you will get it

Re: found on an old farm

This guy down the road from me has a '67 short fleet that I've always had my eye on. It hasn't moved in going on 3 years and every year I go bug him some more. He has said he is going to drive it into the ground. (He owns a dairy farm and used it as a feed truck. I told him that he has drove it into the ground. Still no luck. Since it's white, I offered to fix the motor if he would swap his perfect radio-delete cowl, grill and chrome front bumper for the driver quality stuff I got on my Panel. Still no luck. Some old man gave it to him, not even his gramps or anything like that, and he ain't giving it up.

Next year, I'm gonna pull out the big guns. I'm gonna show up at his house just before Christmas with a handful of cash and let him explain to his wife and kids why there ain't much Christmas on dairyman's pay. Naw, maybe that would be dirty pool.

Re: found on an old farm

O.k...i gonna go a different route. Sure every town has a couple of these guys in it. But just because its just sitting doesnt give anyone the right to make them sell it. They acquired it somehow, cash, trade, etc. So why should they sell it to a passerby just because they want it also. Most people only stop because they think they can buy it for nothing anyways.

Re: found on an old farm

I agree.I`m a guy with a bunch of vehicles.Everything that doesn`t have tags isn`t for sale.Mine move and things are going on to those that regularly pass by.But,this,"It`s just sitting there",mentality is just wishfull thinking.I buy trucks because they are what they are and available.Another may not pass by.We gather the unusual. There`d be no sense in gathering commonly available vehicles. But,a time comes when we have to admit something`s gotta go for it`s own good.
