Protecting Bare Metal Help

I just polished a few things on my 70 [ booster, draglink, master cover,4spd shifter, sway bar ] These are not chrome, they are bare metal polished to look like chrome, I need to know what i can use to top coat them with so they dont tarnish/rust. thanks for the help.

I did the same with my sway bar.
I just used an automotive spray clearcoat.

Bobbyk, that looks nice, how is the clear coat working. Iwas worried about moisture getting through and rusting from under the clear coat.

Re: Protecting Bare Metal Help

It should only get thru if their is a scratch since clear cote is designed to keep everything out of your paint. Just use a real good surface prep to remove any wax or grease before putting the clear on. I have known guys use this on full dune buggy chassies and it held up for years. Check with your local paint store and see if they have one designed for polished metal because most paint clear cotes are designed to bight into "wet" paint.

Like Kevin said,Make sure the coverage is complete and prep well before painting.
I used a manifold clear,you know...designed to clearcoat intake manifolds.It's a spraybomb.
