I use oil out in the hubs.The wheel bearings are as far out as I go with grease.Grease is what plugs these assemblies up.It gets hard and holds any grit it comes in contact with.If everything`s there,they should be fine.Is there a spring?If there is,even if it`s weak,that would affect disengagement not engagement.
Are you sure it`s a Spicer?The differential housing isn`t a Dana44?I know there`s a few guys on the site that swapped-out the axle for a newer unit.Americanrider is one and 3/4tonner is another that may still have parts.
