moving the gas tank
What do I do to get it out of the cab?

72 C20 with a 350. Previous owner swapped the 4 speed for a 700R4 auto. I'm retired and volunteer at state and national parks. I spend summers in Oregon. Found this truck for $800 and offered $600. Paid for it with $$ made from recycling bottles and cans. Oregon pays .05 per can/bottle. Now doing restification with recycled parts purchased with recycling $$. |

There was a thread a while back that had a link to someones page discribing in detail the process and what's needed. Try a search for it, or if someone else remembers the link.

First make sure the tank is empty or nearly so. Pull the seat. Loosen the gas cap so there isn't any back pressure in the fuel line when you disconnect it from the tank. Unbolt all the clips holding the tank down. The tricky part is getting the filler neck through the rubber grommet. It helps to pull and wobble while a buddy pushes on the filler neck.

I just did mine today by myself. Do exactly what Southpa said. Lift the passenger side up and down until the filler neck slides out. Piece of cake.
