Center Jump Seat question

I have a '00 Silverado that came with buckets and a center console. I don't like it. My two dogs like to ride up front and the seat is a little crammed with both of them (they are both "smaller" dogs). I've been eyeing center jump seats on ebay and I am wondering if this would be a direct replacement? It looks like my current console goes up under the dash, would I need some kind of filler piece to fill this in? I didn't see many "jump seat" trucks when I was looking for a new truck last year and can't remember what the dash was supposed to look like.

I just noticed I would lose my rear heating system through the console (there are still 2 ducts on the floor under the buckets,) would this need to be plugged off at the dash? Now I'm starting to wonder if there is any carpet under the center console.... maybe this isn't doable

well if you get out of a gmc it will work because the chevys didnt offer that year

Yeah, I've figured out that the brackets for the seat and the console are the same. What I don't know is what to do with the hole that will be in my dash and what to do with the heating ducts. I guess I'll have to get lucky and find one at a yard and get half of the dash out of it too. Be nice to find someone who has actually done the swap

You fill the hole with the in dash cup holder assembly, that swings down. I am eventually doing this conversion later with a full size console I have. I will have to remove my jump seat and cup holder assembly when I am ready. I have a 2000 Silverado stepside.

^ I've acutally done this since I posted this. I did the swap a couple months ago. I got a complete set-up out of a junkyard. I got both buckets and the buddy bucket seat. I was originally going to keep my seats and add the buddy seat, but with the center fold down arm rests my seats we about 1/4" wider than the other seats, just enough so they rubbed when you tried to adjust the seat, making it difficult.

SO, I eneded up swapping the entire front seat section out. It was a straight bolt in job. I wanted to keep my tape deck (for my XM) so I only removed the center console and not the tape deck part. I used aluminum duct work tape I found at Lowe's to tape off the A/C/heat vent and I made a cardboard cover with some gray material I found at wally world to cover the hole. It actaully looks pretty good.

To do it properly, as stated above, you can swap out the entire lower panel (glovebox and all) to get the fold out cup holders and the proper legroom for the jump seat.
