88 chevy 1/2 ton parts
My brother has a wrecked 88 1/2 ton pickup, 350 engine.
What stuff on it could i use on my 68 with its 350. Are the brackets the same? Id like to take as much as I need off of it, try to get its power windows. Im trying to get ideas. I want to get drop spindles, which drop spindles would take the '88 brakes? |

I see a lot of people using the steering wheels out of these trucks. You could put the whole tbi motor in the truck. But this involves lots of wiring. The brakes are completely different. If the truck has a nice seat Id use it.

The '88 dosen't have too many exact parts in common, but many that will work. It will have a serpentine belt setup on it, which should bolt up to your '68's 350. The serpentine is more efficent, and takes less power to run. If it has a auto tranny, it is proably a 700R4, which is a pretty hot conversion into these trucks. It would bolt right up to your 68's 350. And, like Hooter said, yank the seat if it is nice, and the steering wheel would be a nice upgrade from your '68's stock metal wheel. The suspension on the truck is alot different than that of your '68. If you want to upgrade to disc front brakes, either buy a conversion kit or use a '71-'72 front crossmember.

Did similar deal last year with a 88 Silverado. This is what I kept: 700R4 with driveshaft, tires, the plastic housing that holds the tire jack etc from behind the seat, the under hood auxilery light that mounts on the pass fender, ralley wheel trim, jack, ---I did not keep the serpentine belt setup but probalby should have. Keep in mind when doing that, some things turn backwards on the 88+ trucks with serpetine~~~ verses our vintage. I still sold the rest of the truck for $1500. It had an excellent bed and real decent cab, front clip, etc.---Huck
