Just wondering what radiator all of you guys are runnin when you change from a straight 6 to a V8. I have the factory radiator that came with the 87 chevy. Just needin some pictures to see how I am suppose to mount this radiator or do I need to find a smaller one that will fit between the framerails?
Also this is on a 65 c-10. Please any input is very appreciated |

Re: Radiator.. From a 6 to a V8
I had a 6 in my 72. The V-8 radiator is slightly wider, but the nutserts were already in the core support. I got an aluminum radiator built for factory V-8 mounts and bolted the mounts in the other holes. Not sure if the 65 has this also.

This is Suspension forum. Maybe a mod can move...
For my '69, I swapped out stock 2-core with stock 4-core. Basic swap-out... just needs new top and bottom rubber mounts to match.

Re: Radiator.. From a 6 to a V8
I used a universal aluminum rad. from Summit.
The universal one is not set up for an auto trans, but summit sells a radiator about the same size as the universal one above that has the lines for an auto, its listed for use in a 3rd gen nova. As far as mounting, they will fit in the lower mounts (U shaped rubber), and I just fabbed up some L shaped brakets, and bolted using existing rad support cover bolts. Re: Radiator.. From a 6 to a V8
I just converted a 64 with small radiator to larger oem style radiator. The small radiator is roughtly 17x17 inches (core) and fits between rails. The larger is 17x25 and sits atop the rails. The tanks on the larger radiator are thicker (front to back) so the small rad mounts (U shaped things) won't work. I harvested all the stock brackets (upper, lower, and shroud moujnts) from a 65 C20 a friend had in the back yard. The frame is already drilled for everything. Had to grind off rivets to get the stuff off the donor, but assembly was simple bolt-up. I just got a stock OEM replacement style brand-X 3-row radiator from the corner rad shop.
