Had a few hours - Door mod

Tell me what you guys think, It still needs more sanding. For a none welder I think I'm doing pretty good with my cheap MIG, air grinder and some Rage gold. The doors are not hung yet so the spacing looks like it's off.

Re: Had a few hours - Door mod

Was that mod easier or harder than you initially expected? It works well on the 55-59 trucks.

That's the first coat of HB primer. I think I have another 2 coats to get it to to final coat before sealing.

It was easier than expected, the hard part is tacking the part on the door.

Thought about shaving the handles too but am not sure if I should or not.

That looks good. I had to look at your pics then pull up some pics of my truck to realize what you had changed. Thats the way it should be. Little changes that make you think.

Thanks,

So I was moving the truck over to the area for priming with the jack and the passenger door fell off and right on a piece of 4x4 block, F#@&! Now I need to get this big dent out of the damn door.

Damn, damn!

The top corner of the 55-59 doors are square, I made the corners round. It's good that most people don't recognise the the mod.

Take a look at the door corner on this picture then compare to the other.

Where did you order the kit from cause I was thinking about doing that also.
Sometimes when you need a speific tool they just seem to stop functioning which sucks.

Re: Had a few hours - Door mod

I love rounded corners like that. I did it on my 61. Actually, I did 3 door corners on each door, but not the corner you rounded (doesn't work for that body). The lower rear corner looks good rounded IMO and would probably work on 55-59 too. Nice subtle little mod.

The before and after pic is good for those of us who aren't tri 5. Sweet looking mod. I like the subtle ones! Good work.

I've seen this done many times, I like it because it's not a obvious mod, should I shave the door handles?

If you do shave them make sure to use bear claw latches.
