I give up on Rallys!!
Okay, after getting sticker shock today at the tire store, and deciding the 15 x 10 rallys won't work for the front of my truck, I've decided to go low buck!!
A couple of questions first though. I need 2 - 5 on 5 front steel wheels for my truck. I guess 15 x 6 or 8 inch wide. Those are stock from what I gather from which years though? I also need 2 - 6 lug rear wheels, 15 x 6 or 8. What year are those from? Will the same Caps fit both the 5 and 6 lug? Will trim rings fit too? The funny thing is I have a complete set of 15 x 6 steel wheels for my Bel Air with new white wall tires on them, but they are 5 x 4 3/4. So close, yet so far. I will just do as Tx Firefighter did and paint them and install them. All I know is the wheels I have now have got to go! Moderators: After I get the years involved I will post the WTB in the correct section, just trying to do research right now. Thanks! Shawn

Re: I give up on Rallys!!
Hhmmm.... I might know a thing or two about ralleys & steelies since I'm a recognized tightwad.
15x6.5" ralleys (van ralleys) are 5x5 bolt pattern. Most stock solid 'plain jane' steel wheels for 71-87 trucks are 15x7" 5x5 pattern. For 6-lug rear ralleys, use 73-87 4x4 Blazer ralleys. They're 15x8" w/4" BS & 6x5.5" pattern. If you're going the solid steelie route, the same model vehicle came w/7 & 8" solid steelies as well. I know the military versions were more likely to have the 8" wide versions. For trim rings, my personal favorite is the 88-98 Chevy truck steel wheel trim ring. They are shallow trim rings that only cover the outer most lip of the wheel (I don't personally care for deep trim rings or mis-matched trim rings on different size wheels). These are about 1.5" deep & easliy found @ most hub cap places, e-bay, swap meets, & wrecking yards. They make the outward appearance of the wheels uniform, even when running wider rear wheels. As for center caps, if you run solid steelies, the same 'truck' cap will work regardless of the bolt pattern. I emphasize truck because car-pattern wheels & truck pattern wheels use different size 'dog-dish' caps. Full wheel covers are universal. Ralley centers are obviously specific for the bolt pattern. I've seen 5-lug front late model caps & 6-lug rear late model caps on the same truck & it didn't look bad.... but you did notice if you studied the truck. If you run 'poverty/dog-dish' caps or full wheel caps, they hide the bolt pattern all together so no one but you will know if somethings not the same. . .....

Re: I give up on Rallys!!
Well, this may not be perfectly correct but...
5 on 5 rally's came on 73-80's(?) in 15 x 8 width... the 5 on 5, 15x 7's (6-1/2?) were on 1/2 vans... The 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern were on 4 x 4 1/2 ton trucks, I'm assuming 73-80's(?) again.... I also belive the trim ring were the same for 8" wide regardless of 6 or 5 lug,... although the 7" (6-1/2?) or narrower used a different trim ring... And... the center caps all interchange on the 5 on 5 bolt patterned wheels... but the 6 on 5-1/2 would not work... the center caps fit over and around the bolt holes... so, I hope all that helps... others may know more specifics, but... junk yard hunting this above info works for me...

Re: I give up on Rallys!!
Not all vans had 5 on 5, some light gvw 1/2 tons in the late '80s & newer had 5 on 4-3/4.

Re: I give up on Rallys!!
If it's a van & it has ralleys, it's 5x5.

Re: I give up on Rallys!!
I'm all but certain the '89 van I use for storage is 4- 3/4. It came with Ralleys. They are still on it- I think. It's 140 miles from here- next time I'm there, I'll look.

Re: I give up on Rallys!!
Are you sure car caps won`t work on truck steelies? Is this true for early`50s cars?Because my first truck was a`72 shortbed Highlander that I put wide steelies on with,I think,`54 caps.

Re: I give up on Rallys!!
This statement is not an absolute. That being said, most car pattern caps are 9 1/8" dia & truck pattern caps are 10 1/8" dia.

Re: I give up on Rallys!!
Chevy Van's 71-74 1/2ton's were 5 on 4-3/4... I used the spindle, caliper, & rotors on a past truck in order to get that bolt pattern... they use the same ball joint (upr/lwr) and same tie rod end... but use 71-77 camaro rotors & caliper, & pads...
the 71-72 van spindle use a 71-72 P/U tie rods end and the 73-74 van use a 73-later P/U tie rod end.... but are 5 on 4-3/4 bolt pattern... I had a car 12 bolt rear end in it and ran corvette style rally's 15 x 7's up front and 15 x 8's in rear... Never heard anything about later trucks being 5 on 4-3/4.... Gotta love rally's....
