Re: 2wd center cap ???

BTW 6-lug trucks have 7/16" studs and 5-lug trucks are 1/2" threads.

I have detailed pics of how I installed these if you want them. I just don't have them on my computer at work. I'll have to get them later.
68... post them please or send to me at erohrbaugh@verizon.net

Re: 2wd center cap ???

Evans I found the thread I made a while back about this. These are for 5-lug wheels but the process is the same for the 6-luggers.

Here is what I have, I'm happy with it. I just bought the decals at a swap meet and placed them over the 4x4 on the cup.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

I'd like to see that Matt. I have never been much of a fan of those plastic caps like on the wife's S-10...too easy to lose.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

Hey PICKMUP ,
are those new or used ?
do you have a showroom ? I'm not too far from Olympia
I could easily drill holes to attach something like that in my Toyota wheels
assuming they're screw holes in back of the caps

Anybody got custom caps on there steel wheels ?
p.s. i'm NOT using the toy center caps
I think with the right caps and some skinney 16" trim rings and some silver
paint , or black or maybe even body color ?
whata you guys think ?

Re: 2wd center cap ???

I was running the late model centers until I changed out to TT2.
on the back side there should be 6 "risers" that have "caps" in the ends,
remove everyother one and the they can be bolted thru the existing bolt holes ( the tapped ones used for the original centers ) directly to the wheels. If I remember correctly it takes a #12 sheetmetal screw. Just don't overtighten or it will split the plastic. I still have the caps and wheels, so if you need a pic to better explain the process, just let me know.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

Here is a pic of the back of the late model centers and how I attached them.
The screw come in from the back side of the rim and go thru to the centercap.
That way you don't have to run the special lugnuts, you can use a regular tapered seat chrome lugnut.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

Mods: Any chance this topic either 1) already exists in FAQ, or 2) Can be added? It's a very popular topic in the 6-lug club.

Re: 2wd center cap ???

Sure was easy....just pulled out all six caps and picked three to mount the screws from behind the wheel. Took me less than 20 minutes time to swap them all.
