Re: dual quads/3x2's/tunnel rams/blowers
That set-up with the 3 cone filters looks like it would be vulnerable to vibration and want to fall off or break something.Just bling,IMHO.I`d put effort into getting one of those cones to some cool intake air before doing that.Looks like the front carb gets 1/2 the air that the rear one gets.
Here`s some vintage factory induction: Not exactly factory:

This stuff is surpisingly stout, all 4" aluminum. It gets man-handled by our customers all day long...a test much more harsh than engine vibration . As far as air delivery, all I can say is a good double inverted cone filter has about the same filter area as your typical 14X3" round air filter. We set this thing up for fun, to show what you can do with this stuff. At one point we had 4 cones w/elbows and extentions...all Mad Max'd out. BTW...Is there such a thing as "thread of the year" because all the pix in this thread are great! Luv the 6 cyl stuff.

Re: dual quads/3x2's/tunnel rams/blowers
Hey Special-k,
In that first pic with the 409, I see a tach unit on the inner fender. Does anyone know about these? Are they rare? Reason I ask is because my dad's 50 that he is restoring had one of these installed, and we had never seen one before. Sorry for going OT...but I love these pics. |

Re: dual quads/3x2's/tunnel rams/blowers
Drman929,I can only imagine they`d be right rare.None of this stuff is mine.I just save pictures and have a motor fetish. You should see my "Bits`n`Pieces" folder. It`s emblems, tail lights, you know, any little piece of a car or truck that looks cool.
Here`s more:

Re: dual quads/3x2's/tunnel rams/blowers
this thread is really makin' me kick myself for selling my uncles edelbrok sbc offset dual quad intake on ebay a couple years back.... he only wanted $150 for it and it sold for $300+
it would look sweet under the hood of my truck on a freshly built 383. on the other hand, skylers supercharger looks even sweeter

My wife, when I first met her, said most guys looked at girly mags in the bathroom and thought it was weird I looked at truck mags. Then I subscribed to Easyriders and she gave me hell saying I just got it to look at the your naked girls.
